Mattering doesn’t have to be left to chance.
We can design for it.
In consulting with organizations around the country – from Fortune 500 companies to healthcare systems to national non-profits to leading higher education institutions – Jennifer has heard one question more than any other: How do we scale mattering? How do we make it part of the everyday experience within our organization, not something that depends on one exceptional manager or an occasional act?
To answer that question, Jennifer and her team built Mattering by Design, a workshop that offers a practical framework for scaling mattering across an organization and building it into the habits and systems that shape a workforce.
Creating a culture of mattering is one of the most meaningful things you can do for your employees—and one of the smartest things you can do for your organization’s performance.
And it doesn't have to be left to chance.
It can be built by design.
What We Offer
The Diagnostic
We run a proprietary, validated survey at your organization that measures all four mattering signals across your people. We compare your results with industry norms and walk you through what they mean: where you are already strong, and where there is opportunity to boost mattering.
Survey to readout takes ~3-4 weeks, and can be tailored for the whole organization or a subset. We recommend conducting the diagnostic prior to the workshop.
The Workshop
An interactive workshop that puts Mattering research and principles into practice.
The workshop combines original mattering survey data, case studies, and Jennifer’s proprietary framework to take mattering from the page into practice, with interactive exercises and a comprehensive workbook that translates the concept into practical steps you can apply the next day.
The Mattering by Design workshop is not a system overhaul. It's a way to embed mattering into the work you're already doing, and is designed to touch every employee at every stage of their work experience.
2-hour virtual session—built for hybrid and fully remote teams
4-hour in-person workshop—built for in-person experiences like conferences, retreats, gatherings, or in-office
Consulting
Jennifer takes on a small number of more in-depth, ongoing consulting partnerships each year with companies and campuses interested in expanding their mattering work beyond a single workshop.
Belonging Isn’t Enough. Employees Need to Know They Matter.
4 in 10 workers who feel like they belong at work still don't feel they matter.
Among workers who feel they belong, those who also feel they matter are 60% more likely to be engaged.
